Wu
Style Tai Ji Quan Push Hands
Jan. 27th
Saturday 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
In
this workshop, students will learn the unique Wu Style version of Tai Ji
Quan’s trademark two-person practice the Pushing Hands Exercise. Students
will work on the basic principles of Push Hands: Root, Stick, Neutralize
& Uproot while learning Wu Style Tai Ji’s unique methods of ultra –
softness and feather touch. Wu Style Tai Ji stresses the rolling back and
giving before force aspects of the practice by utilizing a deep opening,
softening and inward stretching of the Kua area. This method allows practitioners
to literally melt before oncoming force, redirect their opponent and apply
their own power where there is no resistance against them. The Pushing
Hands Practice is essential to a complete study of Tai Ji Quan as well
as a useful tool for all competitive martial artists. Lao Shi Allen will
be in Beijing continuing his study of this unique practice with Northern
Wu Style Grandmaster Li Bing Ci in late December and early January. Don’t
miss the opportunity to garner this information from him shortly after
his return from China.
