Eight Energies Circle
Walking
Taught by Sifu Frank Allen
– Assisted by Tina Zhang
Eight Energies Circle Walking or “Ding Shi Ba Zhang” in Chinese is the basic technique of Ba Gua Zhang. The steady postures eight palms consist simply of walking around a circle while holding the body in eight different positions. This walking practice builds the structural foundations of all Ba Gua training. The practice is within itself a powerful energy moving and gathering Qi Kung, which contains the seed elements of Ba Gua’s martial techniques and can be a receptacle for the deepest levels of Taoist meditation, as well as a method of understanding the I Ching in motion.
Along with walking in a circle, maintaining the internal principles and giving the practitioners practical health improvement and powerful self defense through the twisting, coiling and spiraling of the body. The Steady Posture Circle Walking Palm Set is one of the trademark foundations that make an art Ba Gua Zhang.
